Not Just Yoga Fitness for Women

"Never having been in a fitness center before, I hesitantly joined Fitness For Women on my 59th birthday.  Much to my surprise, it is now two years later and I am still here.  My cholesterol, weight and blood pressure have all improved.  I have more strength and energy and even developed some muscle.  The environment at Fitness for Women is supportive, encouraging, friendly and non-judgmental.  Now, I must admit, I still do not enjoy exercise, but I understand and enjoy the benefits.  Being part of FFW has kept me focused on wellness and health."  Kathy

"Yoga has had a positive effect on me both physically and emotionally.  I feel yoga has fulfilled the gap in my life of never having time for myself.  My hour of yoga every week has helped me to feel good about myself. This is time strictly for me to focus on my feelings.  It has helped me to relax, de-stress myself both physically and mentally.  It has taught me how to listen to my body to and understand what it is telling me.  Unlike joining an exercise class or gym, I never feel intimidated by the people around me; I never feel uncomfortable about my physical appearance during yoga class because yoga makes me feel so good about myself emotionally that nothing else seems to matter.  When I feel good emotionally, I look good physically.  I have joined many exercise classes in the past and have never kept up with them nor have I ever looked forward to the class like I do with yoga.   My family knows I don't miss a yoga class for anything unless it is something out of my control.  I have such a positive attitude about everything when I turn my thoughts to yoga.  In my opinion, "Not Just Yoga Women's Wellness Center" is the best business ever to come to Milford.  It has changed my attitude about myself completely. I thoroughly enjoy having "Not Just Yoga" in town and highly recommend any and all of the classes to everyone.  I have participated in a number of different classes and I was pleased with every one of them."

"I had reached a point where the stresses of being a full-time mother, employee and daughter of elder parents had caused me to have high blood pressure and anxiety attacks.  I decided, with some trepidation because of my age and lack of physical ability, to try yoga.  I  cannot thank you or your instructors enough!  My physical ailments have all but disappeared and NO medication was required.  Also, when I am stressed my back goes out and I am literally paralyzed.  A few weeks after I started taking classes, my back began to tighten.  I immediately began doing the spinal twists and stretches and within 2 days the pain was GONE!  MERCI MON AMI!"

"Yoga was my last attempt at  dealing with my stress.  I choose a career in social services, which at times can be extremely stressful.  Although it is very natural  for me to assist others, I found myself expending all my energies on others.  My health was being affected by stress.  I went to doctors for hair loss and weight loss.  They all said the same thing: "you need to find an outlet for your stress."  I tried various relaxation techniques and working out at the gym which didn't seem to work for me.  At Not Just Yoga I learned a physical and meditative exercise that has let me relax.  The instructors taught me techniques in staying centered, listening to my body and how to breathe less rapidly.  I have not seen a doctor since I started yoga classes over several months ago.  We all have levels of stress in our lives and I have learned to manage mine better with yoga."
